Published by the Path to Peace Foundation and the Permanent Observer Mission of the Holy See to the United Nations. This work documents the proceedings of the Seminar on the 1995 Address of His Holiness Pope John Paul II to the United Nations Organizations. The event, held on 8 May 1996 in the Trusteeship Council Chambers at U.N. Headquarters, New York, came about as a result of the sustained interest among many delegations and U.N. agencies in the months following the Holy Father's 5 October 1995 visit to Headquarters, on the occasion of its Fiftieth Anniversary. Presenters included Dr. Boutros Boutros-Ghali (Secretary-General), His Eminence John Cardinal O'Connor (Archbishop of New York), Archbishop Jean-Louis Tauran (Secretary for Relations with States of the Holy See), Prof. Diogo Freitas do Amaral (President of the General Assembly), His Serene Highness Prince Hans-Adam II (Reigning Prince of the Principality of Liechtenstein), Mr. Alvaro de Soto (Assistant Secretary-General, U.N. Dept. of Political Affairs), Mr. Algirdas Saudargas (Former Minister for Foreign Affairs of Lithuania), Prof. Maurice Glelé (Member of the Constitutional Court of Benin), Dr. Mary Ann Glendon (Learned Hand Professor of Law, Harvard University), Ambassador Francesco Paolo Fulci (Permanent Representative of Italy to the U.N., Seminar Chairman) and Archbishop Renato R. Martino (Apostolic Nuncio, Permanent Observer of the Holy See to the United Nations).
