Annual Catholic Social Teaching Seminar

"FREEDOM, TRUTH AND CHARITY:

PROMOTING HUMAN DEVELOPMENT AS A VOCATION"

 

A week long seminar on Catholic Social Teaching entitled, "Freedom, Truth and Charity: promoting human development as a vocation", will be held May 23-28, 2010. The purpose of the meeting is to give to the 50 young college students more exposure to the social and moral teachings of the Church in order to contribute solid values and convictions to the formation of their minds and consciences. Some of the universities and colleges represented last year were:

Students attend meetings at the United Nations and lectures at the Holy See Mission. Speakers include:

  • Most Reverend Archbishop C. Migliore, Permanent Observer of the Holy See to the UN
  • Senior officials of the United Nations
  • Ambassadors to the United Nations

Topics covered include:

  • Diplomacy and the Holy See
  • The impact of the Catholic Social Doctrine of UN Activities
  • Poverty and Social Development
  • Climate Change
  • World Peace and Security
  • Global impact and Human Rights
  • Christian Communities and Peacekeeping/Peacebuilding
