FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE … The Path to Peace Foundation announces the third annual seminar on Catholic social thought for Catholic college students. This year’s symposium is entitled: Catholic College Students and the Common Good: Building a World of Hope and a Community for Peace. This year’s seminar follows in the footsteps of the recently completed visit of Pope Benedict XVI to the United States and the United Nations and is an opportunity for College students to engage international leaders, scholars and other officials on Pope Benedict’s XVI’s message of hope. The yearly symposium is designed to give college students more exposure to the social and moral teachings of the Church, in order to contribute solid values and convictions to the formation of their minds and consciences, and to encourage them to engage in the task of making the world a better place. This gathering of college students from around the United States and Canada will be led by Archbishop Celestino Migliore, Permanent Observer of the Holy See to the United Nations and President of the Path to Peace Foundation, in cooperation with experts, theologians, sociologists, and United Nations senior officers and Ambassadors. It will be held from Sunday, May 18 – Friday, May 23, 2008. The Path to Peace Foundation was established in 1991 to support the educational, cultural and humanitarian activities which complement diplomatic parameters of the Holy See Mission to the United Nations. Its principal purpose is the spreading of the message of peace by which the Catholic Church, through the words and activities of the Pope and of the Holy See, strives to "guide our steps into the path of peace" (Luke 1:79). More information is available by calling Mr. Lucas Swanepoel at 212-370-7885. More information about the work of the Holy See Mission is available at www.holyseemission.org and the Path to Peace Foundation at www.thepathtopeacefoundation.org.
