Home / Awards / Servitor Pacis Award / 2001 THE SERVITOR PACIS AWARD RECIPIENTS 2001 - Reverend Father Manuel Jiménez Tejerizo Reverend Father Manuel Jiménez Tejerizo is a priest of the Archdiocese of Bucaramanga, Colombia, and the Founder and National President of Ni?os de Papel (Children of Paper), a non-governmental organization based in Colombia. The mission of Niños de Papel is to develop a scientific and technical awareness of the problems related to children and families living in difficult situations, as well as adequate methodologies and processes to respond to these issues. Father Manuel has inspired countless people involved with Niños de Papel to be motivated and focused in giving adequate remedies to difficult situations affecting children and families, beginning with the understanding that children’s rights are above all rights. The work of Niños de Papel is aimed at improving the quality of life both of the children and their families, as well as of the volunteers who work with them. The children, mostly found in the streets, are accompanied to the Niños de Papel Center where they are assured care and security. All aspects of their lives are taken into consideration: health, nutrition, recreation, education and affection, and above all, the prospect for a brighter tomorrow for children and their families. In recognition of his outstanding contribution and tireless efforts to building a community fit for children in Colombia, a community of justice and peace, the Path to Peace Foundation is pleased to bestow upon Father Manuel Jiménez Tejerizo the title “Servitor Pacis”--Servant of Peace.
